University of West London launches campus wayfinding in 4 weeks with MazeMap

The University of West London, a public university with 25,000 students across five campuses, faced significant wayfinding challenges due to its unplanned growth over 150 years. This made it difficult and time-consuming for all students to navigate, created accessibility issues for those with mobility challenges, and caused confusion about which campus areas were accessible after hours. The university partnered with vendor MazeMap to find a solution.

MazeMap implemented its indoor wayfinding solution, which integrated with the university's timetabling system and existing Aruba Wi-Fi infrastructure for indoor positioning. This allowed students to get directions to a class room directly from their timetable with one click and see their own location on the map once indoors. A "24/7" map view was also created to automatically show only open areas of the campus based on the time of day. The solution was implemented in just four weeks and was quickly adopted, garnering over 2,300 monthly users within three months of launch.
