A MazeMap Case Study
The University of Stavanger faced a significant challenge with the perceived lack of available meeting rooms on campus. An investigation revealed that the core issues were not a shortage of space, but rather the difficulty users had in locating unfamiliar rooms and a high rate of 'fake usage,' where booked rooms were left unoccupied. This problem was costing the university approximately €120,000 annually.
To solve this, the university implemented MazeMap's meeting room visualization and sensor technology. The solution provided intuitive indoor maps to help users easily find and book the nearest available room. By integrating with calendar systems and using sensors to detect occupancy, rooms that were booked but not in use were automatically freed up, making them available for others. After launching in the fall of 2019, MazeMap's system led to a 22% reduction in 'no-show' bookings within the first month, drastically improving room utilization and the overall user experience for students and employees.
