A MazeMap Case Study
St. Olavs University Hospital faced a challenge in efficiently dispatching its porters, who were responsible for 700 daily work orders across its large campus. Work orders were assigned to the first available porter, often resulting in long delays as porters had to walk significant distances. The hospital partnered with vendor MazeMap to find a solution using their location-based services to optimize this workflow.
MazeMap implemented a solution that used Cisco Spaces to track porter locations via their smartphones, allowing dispatchers to assign the nearest porter to each task. This saved an estimated two minutes per work order. The resulting efficiency gain translated to an estimated saving of five full-time employees, or five man-years, for the hospital.
