A MazeMap Case Study
The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) faced a significant challenge in helping its 44,000 students and employees navigate its 17 campuses, which span 144 buildings and over 700,000 square meters. Existing maps were insufficient, making it difficult for users to find lecture halls, meeting rooms, and facilities. To solve this problem, NTNU partnered with vendor MazeMap to implement its indoor mapping and navigation service.
MazeMap used NTNU’s existing facility management data and WiFi infrastructure to create a detailed, interactive map with turn-by-turn navigation. The solution was a major success, registering over 12.5 million user sessions and saving an estimated 3,000 hours in time efficiency in its first year at one campus alone. MazeMap became an indispensable tool, widely praised by staff and students for making the complex campus environment easy to navigate.
