A Maze Case Study
Soda Studio, an Amsterdam-based digital UX and interaction design studio, needed to optimize a conversion flow they believed was being disrupted by a tab bar. To validate the hypothesis and measure user behavior, Soda Studio used Maze’s A/B testing feature to run a 50/50 experiment on two design variations.
Using Maze, the team compared a design with and without the tab bar, analyzed click heatmaps and user paths, and found the no-tab version had a higher success rate (32% vs 22%) and a higher direct-completion rate (30% vs 15%). Maze revealed that taps on the tab bar caused the largest share of exits (40%) and that the design with the tab bar produced 35% more exits, enabling Soda Studio to optimize the conversion funnel accordingly.
