Case Study: Freetrade achieves large-scale, rapid pre-launch user testing with Maze

A Maze Case Study

Preview of the Freetrade Case Study

How Maze enabled large-scale testing at Freetrade

Freetrade, a UK challenger stockbroker building a simple, zero-fee investing app, faced the challenge of validating its mobile app experience at scale before public release. The product team needed a way to run large-scale, rapid usability tests beyond face-to-face and guerrilla methods, so they turned to Maze’s usability testing platform to gather customer feedback during prelaunch.

Using Maze, Freetrade sent tests to its user group and collected feedback from more than 600 participants, getting immediate success metrics and qualitative comments. Maze uncovered actionable issues (e.g., difficulty finding the ISA, confusing labels, and an indirect route users took to complete a task), leading Freetrade to build the direct route as the primary flow; overall Maze delivered fast, low-effort insights and measurable results (positive success rates on two of three missions and clear priorities for iteration).
