Canopy, a cloud-based management platform for tax and accounting professionals, needed faster, more reliable usability testing to ensure designs met customer needs. Their previous research tools were bloated and underused, so Canopy turned to Maze for quick, lightweight remote testing and heatmaps that fit into their existing workflow.

Using Maze, Canopy ran fast prototype tests by sending shareable URLs via Slack, iterating on designs in real time and refreshing tests as needed. The approach delivered measurable results — a 98.9% success rate on a revised Help Center design — and shortened the cycle from first mockup to knowing what to build to just one day, with the final design proposal sent to engineers by the end of the second day. Maze’s heatmaps and ease of adoption also helped bring more designers into the research process.
