Maxta Opens the Door to Simplified IT Management for Leading Commercial Security Manufacturer

Designed Security Inc., a 30-employee commercial security and access control manufacturer based in Bastrop, Texas, faced persistent IT challenges managing a heterogeneous virtual environment that included a mission-critical manufacturing database, domain controller, Exchange server and VOIP system. Recurring hardware failures and time-consuming VM moves under their VMware licensing made maintenance difficult without interrupting production. After evaluating options, DSI selected Maxta and its MxSP software to address these constraints.

Maxta deployed MxSP software (with minor hardware upgrades) to converge compute and storage, eliminating the need for complex SANs and simplifying management. The Maxta solution delivered better performance, reduced latency, expanded storage capacity and improved redundancy, while making routine maintenance and VM operations faster and less disruptive—freeing DSI’s systems analyst for other priorities.
