Case Study: Motorola Mobility achieves high availability and reduced IT management costs with Maxta

A Maxta Case Study

Preview of the Motorola Mobility Case Study

Maxta Enables High Availability, Flexibility, and Ease of Use for Motorola Mobility Infrastructure

Motorola Mobility, now part of Lenovo and a leader in consumer mobile devices, faced costly, complex storage infrastructure that required multiple specialists and high capital to run business‑critical applications. After evaluating traditional arrays and modern hyper‑converged options, Motorola Mobility selected Maxta and its VM‑centric Maxta Storage Platform (MxSP) to meet requirements for simplicity, flexibility (running on Lenovo/IBM servers), and global support.

Maxta deployed MxSP as a hyper‑converged solution on standard x86 Lenovo/IBM servers, eliminating the need for proprietary arrays or hypervisors and reducing software license and management costs. The Maxta implementation delivered high availability, scalable data services and capacity optimization so Motorola Mobility can run production databases and middleware without downtime, allow a single administrator to manage compute/virtualization/storage, and has prompted consideration of Maxta for additional sites.
