Maxta Delivers Enterprise-Class Capabilities and Storage Performance to Enable Local Government’s VDI Implementation

Gemeente Venray, the municipal government in Venray, Netherlands, needed to deploy a VMware Horizon View VDI to support about 450 staff but its existing SAN lacked the IOPS and redundancy required. With no budget to replace or add SAN hardware, the municipality evaluated software-defined storage and selected Maxta’s Maxta Storage Platform (MxSP) to meet performance, availability and simplicity requirements.

Maxta implemented MxSP to provide distributed, VM‑centric storage with SSD read/write caching, thin provisioning, inline compression/dedupe, and unlimited snapshots/clones, eliminating the need for a costly SAN upgrade. As a result, Maxta enabled the VDI rollout for roughly 450 virtual machines, removed single points of failure by replicating data across the cluster, preserved the 50 TB SAN investment, simplified management, and improved boot/login performance for end users.
