Maxoptra Helps Deliver £1/4million Savings for Industrial Metal Services

Industrial Metal Services (IMS), one of the UK’s largest steel stockholders, needed a better way to plan and schedule its 60-vehicle delivery fleet. Using a manual, paper-based process and wall maps, IMS struggled to account for delivery size, weight, traffic, driver hours, and customer requirements while maintaining its next-day service across south, east and central England. Maxoptra’s cloud-based route planning and scheduling software, integrated with TomTom Telematics WEBFLEET, was chosen to improve customer experience and stay competitive.

With Maxoptra, IMS now automatically generates efficient routes and sends ETA text alerts to customers, reducing failed deliveries and improving driver on-site time. The implementation delivered savings of around £250,000 per year through fewer miles, lower maintenance costs, and about 20% higher productivity, while also increasing fleet capacity and reducing environmental impact.
