A MaxMine Case Study
A large open pit gold and copper mine was facing high variability in haul truck cycle times, driven by inconsistent operator performance. The lack of objective metrics made it difficult to manage individual productivity, which also led to bunching within the haulage circuits. To address this, the mine partnered with MaxMine and implemented its productivity solution.
MaxMine deployed its operator efficiency metric, an objective performance management tool based on organizational psychology principles. This was supported by a site coach who helped communicate new targets to crews. Operators could view their performance scores against peers on crib room wallboards, gamifying the process. The solution provided targeted analytics on gear selection and speed control. As a result, MaxMine helped the client achieve a sustained 12% increase in average full haul speed and a 13% increase in average return haul speed, with improvements maintained for six months.
