Implementing Maxbill to Unify Payment and Collection Services for Municipalities Across Portugal

CTT, the national postal authority of Portugal, faced fragmented, outdated billing systems across multiple municipalities and needed to support both B2C and B2B payment and collection services. To unify processes and reduce IT costs, CTT selected the MaxBill billing platform, leveraging its multi-tenant architecture and hosted deployment to provide a standardized yet autonomous solution for each local authority.

MaxBill implemented a centralized, multi-tenant billing system with customer care, meter and route management, invoicing, web-based self-service and hosted operations via Mailtech Holding. The rollout reduced the budget and maintenance effort required to support legacy systems, enabled CTT to offer SaaS-based payment and collection services to municipalities, expanded revenue collection capabilities, and positioned CTT to pursue new prospects and regional expansion.
