Spamhaus, an independent organization focused on strengthening online trust and safety, needed a more secure and efficient way for its globally distributed team to communicate. Relying on email and multiple chat tools created confusion, delays, and information silos, and the team also required a self-hosted collaboration platform to keep sensitive threat intelligence data under its own control.

Spamhaus implemented Mattermost as a self-hosted, open source communications platform with SSO, MFA, and integrations for alerts, GitLab, monitoring, and internal notification systems. With Mattermost, the company improved cross-functional visibility, sped up issue remediation, and enabled real-time collaboration across teams and mobile devices; while no hard ROI number was given, Spamhaus said the platform is central to its 24/7 operations and has significantly improved efficiency and outcomes.
