Schäferbarthold, a family-owned wholesale company for car parts and accessories, needed a secure, self-hosted collaboration platform to replace HipChat and Stride without moving to the cloud. With on-prem infrastructure and strong security/data protection requirements, the IT team chose Mattermost for its ease of use, multi-device availability, and ability to support internal communication and developer workflows.

Mattermost was implemented as a central platform, heavily integrated with Atlassian tools and systems like Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Icinga, Graylog, Grafana, and QuartzDesk, plus custom slash commands and Playbooks for incident response. Schäferbarthold reports much fewer requests by ticket or phone, smoother emergency communication, and the ability to keep operations running during two extended internet outages, while expanding adoption across teams and planning to move even more collaboration into Mattermost.
