NRI (Nomura Research Institute) is a global consulting and systems integration firm with 13,000 employees across 14 countries that needed to replace HipChat with a secure, scalable messaging and collaboration platform. The company’s aslead team was looking for a solution that would meet J-SOX and internal IT compliance requirements while supporting efficient communication for its globally distributed workforce. Mattermost was selected as the best fit, alongside tools like Jira, Confluence, and Zoom.

Mattermost implemented a customized deployment for NRI on AWS Elastic Container Services, connected to services such as EFS, Aurora RDS, AWS Backup, and Elasticsearch, and rolled it out in phases from a 100-user beta to a full migration of 7,000 users. With Mattermost, NRI reduced the number of meetings needed to collaborate or solve problems, improved response times through dedicated channels, and created a searchable central repository of information for self-service access. NRI also extended the value of Mattermost by packaging it into customer offerings as a systems integration partner.
