Galois selects Mattermost for company-wide collaboration

Galois, a technology company that supports government agencies like NASA and the Department of Defense, needed a modern collaboration tool that could handle distributed teamwork while keeping sensitive data fully under its own control. After outgrowing Jabber, the company wanted a Slack-like experience with strong security, web access, offline notifications, search, and integrations, but needed an on-premises solution. Mattermost fit those requirements.

Galois implemented Mattermost for self-hosted communication, integrating it with GitLab and Jenkins and even building a custom command-line client called Matterhorn for developers. Mattermost helped teams move away from email threads and collaborate in real time across engineering, finance, operations, and outside partners, while IT retained full control over company data. The rollout was quick, taking only an hour or two to set up initially, and the platform became central to Galois’ 40+ channels and day-to-day collaboration.
