Case Study: CBS's Hunted achieves secure, real-time collaboration to capture fugitives with Mattermost

A Mattermost Case Study

Preview of the CBS Hunted Case Study

Former CIA, FBI and NSA officials use Mattermost to capture fugitives on CBS’ Hunted

CBS Hunted, a CBS reality show that brings former CIA, FBI and NSA officials together to track simulated fugitives, needed to recreate a highly secure command-center communications environment on a limited budget. Conventional SaaS tools like Slack, Skype and Microsoft Teams couldn’t meet the show’s privacy and data-control requirements, so the production selected Mattermost as a self-hostable, secure messaging solution that works across desktop, web and mobile.

Mattermost was rapidly deployed in a private-cloud/on‑premises setup to provide real-time messaging, secure file sharing, searchable archives and fast “war room” collaboration for field teams and analysts. The platform’s security and agility helped the hunters capture seven of nine two-person teams (including one on the first day), while accelerating decision-making, increasing productivity and keeping sensitive data fully under CBS Hunted’s control.
