A Mattermost Case Study

Preview of the CyberPeace Institute Case Study

CyberPeace moves to self-hosted Mattermost for data security & user-friendly design

CyberPeace Institute, a nonprofit that helps protect vulnerable communities and NGOs from cyberthreats, needed a secure collaboration platform that was self-hosted, GDPR-compliant, and easy for nontechnical users to adopt. After using Stackfield and evaluating alternatives, the team selected Mattermost for its open-source flexibility, support for self-hosting in Switzerland, mobile access, SSO, and ability to do more than chat, including kanban-style work organization.

With Mattermost, CyberPeace Institute centralized communication, secured sensitive data with private channels and encrypted messaging, streamlined onboarding, and used Channels, Boards, API integrations, Kubernetes deployment, and Playbooks to scale incident response and volunteer coordination. The result was a more intuitive, mission-critical platform that supports 1,000+ volunteers and 400+ organizations, helps track and report volunteer impact, and enables faster, more effective cyber resilience services across more than 120 countries.
