CERN integrates 100+ tools into Mattermost for more effective global collaboration

CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, needed a secure, centralized way to replace a patchwork of chat systems and support collaboration across its global, highly distributed teams. The organization wanted a modern messaging experience that could be hosted on-premises to maintain full control of its data, and it selected Mattermost to meet those requirements.

Using Mattermost, CERN created a single collaboration hub for more than 1,500 teams and integrated over 100 tools, including Jira, GitLab, and GitHub. The platform scaled to 22,000 users, nearly 10,000 monthly active users, 26,000 channels, and 58 million posts, while also helping CERN transition smoothly to remote work during COVID-19 and improve cross-department communication, knowledge sharing, and event collaboration.
