Air Mobility Command uses ChatOps to support largest-ever readiness exercise

The U.S. Air Force’s Air Mobility Command (AMC) needed a secure, flexible way to support its largest-ever readiness exercise, Mobility Guardian 23, across highly distributed and often unscripted operations. To help teams communicate and coordinate in contested, degraded, and operationally limited environments, AMC used Mattermost-powered ChatOps alongside existing systems such as GDSS2 and Puckboard.

Mattermost provided a secure, on-premises collaboration platform with centralized channels, audit trails, and mobile access that let operators at the 618th Air Operations Center and the tactical edge share instant updates, manage mission data in context, and respond quickly to issues as they arose. The result was faster decision-making, improved situational awareness, better after-action reporting, and effective support for 3,000 personnel and more than 15,000 U.S. and allied forces participating in MG23.
