KDO Cloud Workspace (Zweckverband Kommunale Datenverarbeitung Oldenburg), a municipal IT service provider supporting hundreds of public-sector customers, needed to revamp its digital workspace management to keep pace with rapid growth—by 2020 it was managing more than 3,000 workstations and could no longer rely on manual inventory checks. KDO had already been using Matrix42 products (Unified Endpoint Management, Asset Management, patch and license management) and chose to migrate its systems to new servers and reconfigure its environment to achieve scalability and better integration with existing systems like SAP.

Matrix42 implemented its automation tools—including Empirum, Asset Management and UEM—added interfaces to management consoles and personnel systems, and migrated legacy data to eliminate media disruptions. As a result, KDO Cloud Workspace gained full transparency over devices and licenses, automated nearly 75% of workstation-management tasks, reduced manual overhead, and improved process reliability and support readiness, enabling more scalable, efficient IT operations.
