How we're helping Fastweb grow their device management business

FastWeb, a major Italian communications operator with 2.4 million customers, won a 2017 contract to provide device management and maintenance for around 300 public-sector organizations covering up to 110,000 desktop nodes, 43,000 local network nodes, 215,000 desktop telephones, 13,000 server nodes and 9,000 firewall nodes. To meet requirements for patch and vulnerability management, remote control, hardware/software inventory, software distribution and OS deployment, FastWeb evaluated several options and selected Matrix42 and its Empirum client management solution.

Matrix42, working with implementation partner INIX, deployed Empirum beginning in spring 2018 to deliver cost‑effective device management, troubleshooting and inventory capabilities across the contract estate. The Matrix42 solution was chosen for its balance of functionality, price and flexibility (including antivirus integration), and FastWeb expected full coverage of all contracted devices by year‑end, enabling scalable management of the tens of thousands of endpoints and positioning FastWeb to extend services (including mobile device support) and grow its device management business.
