How the University of Vienna generates daily reports on ordering, requirements and licenses

The University of Vienna, one of Europe’s oldest and largest universities (≈90,000 students, ≈10,400 employees), faced a complex, heterogeneous device landscape and fragmented software distribution with two legacy systems and an internally developed tool. The Central IT Service (ZID) needed a single, licensing‑compliant workspace management platform to standardize administration across roughly 12,000 workspaces; after evaluation they selected Matrix42 (including Matrix42 UEM Empirum, asset, license and service‑catalog capabilities) to meet organizational, technical and audit requirements.

Matrix42 delivered an integrated digital workspace solution—UEM Empirum for distribution, asset management, service catalog, license/contract management and MyWorkspace for Adobe—enabling self‑service installs with a two‑stage approval process and daily preventative compliance reports.
