Stadtwerke Speyer GmbH, a municipally owned energy and services provider in Rhineland-Palatinate with roughly 300 employees, faced growing difficulty managing IT asset inventories and security-incident audits using manual, spreadsheet-based processes. They needed an automated, transparent and highly flexible solution able to adapt to frequently changing norms, regulations and audit requirements, so they chose to leverage their existing Matrix42 Service Desk and Workspace Management solution.

Working with Matrix42, Stadtwerke Speyer extended and customized the Service Desk and Workspace Management platform to centralize asset data, incident workflows, risk assessments and reporting. The Matrix42 solution eliminated spreadsheets, made it easy to link risk analyses to tickets, improved compliance visibility (auditors were impressed) and helped avoid compliance failures; Stadtwerke Speyer won Matrix42’s Customer Innovation Award in 2018 and reports rare need for technical support over a decade—demonstrating clear gains in reliability and audit fulfilment. The two partners are now collaborating to make these enhancements available to other organizations with ISO 27001 obligations.
