Case Study: ZAE Bayern achieves rapid, easy deployment and robust endpoint protection with Matrix42 EDR

A Matrix42 Case Study

Preview of the ZAE Bayern Case Study

A modern endpoint security solution that can cope with the sophisticated reality of 21st century IT security threats

ZAE Bayern, a Bavarian non-university institute for applied energy research with about 240 employees and roughly 300 Windows endpoints, needed to replace legacy signature-based antivirus with a modern solution to defend against increasingly sophisticated malware and ransomware. They required fast, easy deployment, centralized real-time visibility and simple management for a small IT team, and at a TAP.DE event included Matrix42 Endpoint Detection Response (powered by enSilo) in their evaluation.

After testing eight products, ZAE Bayern selected Matrix42 EDR for its consistent performance and responsive presales support; Matrix42 completed an agent-led rollout—50 devices in January 2018 for testing, switched to a commercial license in April, and deployed across ~300 devices by mid-2018, with ~70% of scientific PCs protected within three days and plans to cover ~20 servers by year-end. The Matrix42 solution delivered fast, low-friction deployment (no restarts), stronger exploit detection and improved endpoint visibility, meeting ZAE Bayern’s manageability and protection goals.
