Upside, an online business‑travel service, ingests over 3TB of raw flight and hotel inventory daily plus website, app and marketing streams. They were suffering from “concurrent loading and analytical queries that degraded performance and the cluster was extremely expensive to maintain.” To address this, Upside moved its data warehouse to Snowflake and kept Matillion — using Matillion ETL for Snowflake — to continue handling data loading, orchestration and transformations.

Matillion helped convert Upside’s existing ETL jobs to the Snowflake platform, making the migration fast and smooth; Upside was production‑live within two weeks. With Matillion ETL for Snowflake they resolved concurrency issues and saw better performance in under a month, gained scalable up/down capacity for massive nightly loads (and cost efficiency during normal hours), and added flexible JSON querying while continuing to ingest data from many sources.
