MakerBot, the New York–based leader in desktop 3D printing with over 100,000 customers and Thingiverse’s 2 million monthly users, needed to better understand customer demand and behavior and to consolidate data from many on‑prem and cloud sources. To address this, they adopted Matillion and Matillion ETL for Amazon Redshift (deployed via the AWS Marketplace) as part of their Redshift data warehousing strategy.

Matillion delivered a fast, AMI‑based ETL/ELT solution—Matillion ETL for Amazon Redshift—that let MakerBot spin up Redshift clusters in minutes, connect natively to MySQL, PostgreSQL, Salesforce, Marketo, Magento and other sources, and perform transformations far faster than traditional ETL (Matillion cites up to 100x). The result was a consolidated warehouse and a true “360‑degree” view of the customer, enabling more customer‑centric decision making and quicker time‑to‑insight.
