Future-proofing data platforms to support business growth at St James’s Place

St James's Place, the UK advice-led wealth management firm, was struggling with a legacy SSIS data warehouse that could not support multiple applications, failed to meet SLAs, and lacked scalability. Daily loads were taking longer than a day, and the team needed a more robust platform that could support growth through 2030.

Working with Snap Analytics, St James's Place implemented Snowflake on AWS and used Matillion for data transformation. Matillion helped the team process large XML files and hundreds of data sources in a three-tier medallion structure, and daily loads now consistently hit SLAs more than 98% of the time, up from about 7% before Matillion. The new platform also gave actuaries faster access to data and near real-time information in the SJP app.
