Zodiac Aero Electric Uses Model-Based Design for Power System Design

Zodiac Aerospace faced the challenge of developing, integrating, and certifying on‑board electrical power distribution systems that require accurate models, traceability to requirements, and faster verification cycles. To address this, they partnered with MathWorks and used Model‑Based Design with MATLAB and Simulink (notably Simulink) to build and validate system and controller models for power generation and distribution.

MathWorks implemented a Model‑Based Design workflow—desktop simulation, reusable test cases for hardware‑in‑the‑loop, rapid prototyping, and automatic C code generation—which sped up verification and iteration. As a result, Zodiac Aerospace improved traceability between requirements, design, code, and test and reduced development time for complex systems, with automatic C code generation delivering significant gains in agility and faster feature testing.
