TYBRIN Accurately Predicts Debris Fallout from Missile Tests

TYBRIN, a missile flight test safety and analysis firm, needed to replace slow legacy Fortran/C/Perl tools that took days to compute debris impact risk and months to complete projects. Working with MathWorks and using MATLAB, Simulink, the Aerospace Blockset, and the Mapping Toolbox, TYBRIN sought faster trajectory modeling, six-degrees-of-freedom capability, and improved map-based risk visualization to support test ranges and customers like NASA.

MathWorks tools let TYBRIN recreate legacy functionality in a week and run 2,000 Monte Carlo simulations with 3‑DOF and 6‑DOF models, producing mapped risk contours and impact probabilities. Using MathWorks software reduced computation time from two days to two hours, preserved CMM Level III certification through reusable, self‑documenting models, increased productivity, and helped TYBRIN meet NASA’s launch schedule at Kwajalein.
