Schindler Elevator Automates Physical Model Verification Framework Using Simulink Test

Schindler Group, a global elevator and escalator manufacturer, faced the challenge of automating verification for time-series physical models that change frequently with each four‑week scrum sprint. To maximize reuse of test harnesses and minimize rework as interfaces and logic evolved, they turned to MathWorks tools—primarily Simulink Test (alongside MATLAB, Simulink, Embedded Coder, Simscape, Simulink Real‑Time, and Vehicle Network Toolbox).

Schindler built the MATHS (Models’ Automated Test Harnesses) framework using MathWorks’ Simulink Test to run system‑level and model‑in‑the‑loop (MIL) tests, with parallel execution (via Parallel Computing Toolbox) to expand configuration coverage. MathWorks’ tooling enabled automated test execution tied to Simulink Project branch merges and Jira ticket closure, cutting test time from 1–2 weeks to 2 days and eliminating manual intervention except for harness updates and new test cases.
