ROHM Develops a Resonant PFC of New Topology with Model-Based Design

ROHM, a supplier of LSI, discrete, and electric parts, faced challenges developing a resonant PFC circuit with a new topology for an AC‑DC converter that required high‑voltage‑specific design and verification on actual devices. To address this, ROHM worked with MathWorks using Model‑Based Design and products including MATLAB, Simulink, HDL Coder, and Simscape Electrical to perform verification across abstraction levels.

MathWorks’ tools enabled ROHM to front‑load verification, perform realistic circuit design and device‑level unit and integrated tests, and shorten overall design and verification effort. As a result, ROHM accelerated pre‑verification, reduced rework on hardware, and freed engineering time to focus on iteration and innovation using MathWorks’ Simulink, Simscape Electrical, and HDL Coder.
