Qoherent Uses MATLAB to Accelerate Research on Next-Generation AI for Wireless

Qoherent, a Toronto-based startup focused on intelligent radio technology for wireless AI, needed to overcome interoperability challenges while comparing open-source and proprietary tools for 5G and LTE research. Using MathWorks MATLAB along with 5G Toolbox, LTE Toolbox, and Deep Learning Toolbox, the team studied signal classification workflows and worked to validate synthetic and recorded RF datasets.

MathWorks provided the tools and examples Qoherent needed to accelerate development, including the MATLAB example *Spectrum Sensing with Deep Learning to Identify 5G and LTE Signals*. This reduced the learning curve on LTE and 5G standards by several months, cut installation-to-spectrogram setup to under 30 minutes, and saved significant development time by generating standard-compliant waveforms and training data more quickly; Qoherent also achieved the same classification results with its open-source AI network as with the MATLAB-based network.
