A MathWorks Case Study
Slovak University of Technology, working with MathWorks, needed a way to keep its new third-year Industrial IoT course hands-on during remote teaching, when access to on-campus hardware was limited. The university wanted to support project-based learning for communication between hardware and software, while still allowing students to work with tools for simulation, data transfer, and visualization.
MathWorks provided Campus-Wide Access to MATLAB and Simulink, along with tools such as Industrial Communication Toolbox, Simscape, Simulink 3D Animation, and ThingSpeak. This let instructors replace physical controllers and lab hardware with simulated models, share and visualize data in real time, and simplify reconfiguring multidisciplinary projects. As a result, STU improved remote learning experiences and made practical IoT coursework easier to deliver without requiring students to learn new tools.
