Performing Virtual Testing and Simulation in a Cloud-Based Continuous Integration Environment

AGSOTEC, an engineering consultancy, needed to implement a scalable, cloud-based continuous integration (CI) solution for performing virtual testing and simulation of Simulink models. Their challenge was to navigate the complex landscape of cloud providers and CI technologies to find the most effective and flexible approach for running automated tests on a large scale.

MathWorks provided the platform-agnostic MATLAB and Simulink environment, which was key to the solution. AGSOTEC built proof-of-concept implementations using technologies like GitHub, GitLab, and Jenkins, integrating them with both virtual machine and container instances on AWS. The MathWorks tools, including MATLAB Package Manager (MPM) for simplified installation and Simulink Test for execution, enabled the team to create automated pipelines that launch on-demand cloud resources to run tests, generate reports, and then terminate, optimizing both cost and scalability.
