Mitsui Chemicals Deploys AI and Automation Systems with TensorFlow and MATLAB

Mitsui Chemicals, which develops factory automation solutions using AI and machine learning, struggled to deploy TensorFlow/Keras–based visual inspection models on the production line due to field implementation, ease-of-use, and maintenance issues. To address these challenges they turned to MathWorks and its MATLAB platform.

Using MathWorks’ MATLAB with the Deep Learning Toolbox (to import TensorFlow‑Keras models) and MATLAB Compiler/MATLAB Runtime to build and distribute user-friendly applications, Mitsui Chemicals shortened development time, achieved high accuracy, and reduced visual inspection time by 80% while effectively reusing models trained in other frameworks.
