MATLAB Cuts Development Time at Evare by More than 60%

Evare, a Burlington, Massachusetts–based software company, needed to upgrade Evare Desktop — its flagship portfolio management system — to handle increasingly complex fixed-income instruments and accounting constructs without extensive rewrites of the original C++ code. To meet this challenge they turned to MathWorks, using MATLAB and associated toolboxes to accelerate development and prototyping.

MathWorks helped Evare replace the core financial and accounting library with MATLAB implementations (leveraging Financial Toolbox and Database Toolbox), then compiled the tested MATLAB code back to C++ using MATLAB Compiler and the C/C++ Math Library and integrated it as a single DLL. The MathWorks-based workflow cut design and testing time by more than 60% (from an estimated nine months to three), reduced hands-on testing, and helped deliver an award-winning product adopted by several states and large municipalities.
