MARELLI Develops Suspension System ECU with AUTOSAR Architecture and A-SPICE Standard

MARELLI tasked its Ride Dynamics Mechatronic team with developing the ECU application software for a semi-active suspension system that had to follow AUTOSAR architecture and meet A‑SPICE standards while achieving a fast time to market. To address this, MARELLI worked with MathWorks, using MATLAB and Simulink and related toolchain components to design the Smart Damping Control System and manage requirements, design, testing, and code generation.

MathWorks’ integrated toolchain—including Embedded Coder, Simulink Requirements, Simulink Check, Simulink Test, and Simulink Coverage—provided a single environment for end-to-end development, automatic documentation and artifact generation, and improved team cross-competence. As a result, MARELLI moved the Smart Damping Control System into production in less than 18 months, reduced development time, and established a highly effective, maintainable workflow that met AUTOSAR and A‑SPICE objectives.
