MagneShock Develops Semi-Active Suspension Control System with Simulink Real-Time

MagneShocks worked with MathWorks to develop a semi‑active suspension control system that could be adapted across multiple vehicle types. The company needed a flexible, real‑time solution supporting live driver feedback, up to 32 channels of data, and multiple I/O hardware options, so it used MathWorks tools for Model‑Based Design including MATLAB, Simulink, Simulink Coder, and Simulink Real‑Time.

MathWorks’ toolchain enabled MagneShocks to rapidly prototype controllers, perform real‑time parameter tuning on a PC/104 target, and acquire and log data for offline analysis. The result was deployable standalone test code, roughly $100,000 in avoided equipment costs, and a significant reduction in development time thanks to instant tuning and proven automatic code generation.
