A MathWorks Case Study
LG Electronics needed to redevelop inverter control software for electric and hybrid vehicles to meet ISO 26262 and AUTOSAR requirements after manual hand‑coding caused slow delivery and communication errors between teams. To address this, LG Electronics adopted Model‑Based Design from MathWorks, using MATLAB and Simulink (with tools such as Simscape Electrical, Stateflow, AUTOSAR Blockset, Embedded Coder, Simulink Test, Simulink Coverage, and Simulink Check) to support early verification and automated code generation.
MathWorks provided training, workshops, and technical support while LG Electronics modeled the plant and controller, generated optimized C code, and ran back‑to‑back verification and coverage analysis. The MathWorks solution delivered ISO 26262 ASIL‑C–compliant software on schedule, produced generated code with execution performance comparable to hand‑written C, improved cross‑team communication, and reduced verification time by about 20%.
