KPIT Technologies Performs Impact Analysis of Faults in an Electric Vehicle

KPIT, a specialist in embedded software, AI, and digital mobility solutions, needed to assess the severity of electrical faults across electric vehicle subsystems and develop data for future prognostics. Facing the challenge of running many iterative, high‑fidelity simulations without long runtimes, KPIT worked with MathWorks using MATLAB, Simulink, Simscape, and Simscape Electrical to pursue a simulation‑based analysis approach.

Using MathWorks tools, KPIT built and validated a reusable library of BMS, converter, motor, relay, and wire models against experimental data and implemented an EV architecture framework to iterate through subsystem and wire‑fault combinations. The MathWorks‑based solution preserved model fidelity while reducing simulation time and resource use, accelerating fault impact analysis, supporting prognostics, and helping manufacturers minimize testing effort and boost end‑user confidence in the vehicle.
