KPIT Establishes an End-to-End Process for AUTOSAR-Compliant Software Development with Model-Based Design

KPIT needed to modernize aftertreatment system software development for an automotive client by decoupling software from hardware, adding new features, and moving away from a manual, hand‑coded C workflow that delayed requirement verification until ECU testing. To meet these goals KPIT turned to MathWorks tools—MATLAB, Simulink, Embedded Coder, and Stateflow—to adopt AUTOSAR and Model‑Based Design practices and accelerate early verification.

Using MathWorks products, KPIT established an AUTOSAR-compliant, end‑to‑end Model‑Based Design workflow: ARXML round‑trip between an AUTOSAR authoring tool and Simulink, model‑in‑the‑loop and software‑in‑the‑loop testing, and automatic generation of AUTOSAR‑compliant C code with Embedded Coder. MathWorks’ toolchain enabled KPIT to reduce development time by up to 40%, create a repeatable AUTOSAR round‑trip engineering process, and streamline AUTOSAR implementation so the client can focus on application software and reuse across other projects.
