Intuitive Analytics Builds Quantitative Tools to Help Bond Issuers Manage Risk

Intuitive Analytics, a developer of quantitative tools for municipal bond issuers, needed a way to build, test, and deploy sophisticated interest‑rate and cash‑flow analytics that financial analysts could access from Excel. Because municipal finance officers often rely on advisors who lack advanced modeling tools, Intuitive Analytics sought a development environment to deliver production‑grade models and visualizations quickly — and turned to MathWorks and its MATLAB platform and companion products to accelerate time‑to‑market.

Using MathWorks’ MATLAB, Spreadsheet Link, Optimization Toolbox, Statistics and Machine Learning Toolbox, Econometrics Toolbox (with MathWorks Consulting), and MATLAB Compiler/Compiler SDK, Intuitive Analytics built Monte Carlo interest‑rate models, optimization routines, and an Excel‑accessible UI that produces visualizations and deployable applications. MathWorks’ tools enabled a standalone deployment to analysts (with a web‑services version underway), raised development productivity by about 90%, simplified deployment vs. rewriting in C/C++, and supported a rollout to hundreds of analysts and a major Wall Street bank.
