Indian Institute of Technology Delhi Integrates MATLAB Throughout Master’s Level Mechanical Engineering Curriculum

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi needed a way to help graduate mechanical engineering students learn complex concepts through visualization and interactive exploration without getting bogged down in low-level programming. The school selected MathWorks software—primarily MATLAB, later complemented by Simulink and Simscape Multibody—to provide an easy-to-learn, cross-disciplinary computational environment for coursework, competitions, and research.

MathWorks delivered a campus-wide concurrent MATLAB license and integrated the tools throughout graduate and undergraduate courses and research projects, including robotics and the MuDRA rural-engineering initiatives. As a result, assignment completion and grading became simpler (students no longer wait for lab PCs and can exchange MATLAB files), student interest and understanding increased through plots and animations, and graduates are better prepared to tackle real-world engineering problems.
