Case Study: Helaba Invest achieves scalable, maintainable enterprise financial analysis and AIFMD compliance with MathWorks

A MathWorks Case Study

Preview of the Helaba Invest Case Study

Helaba Invest Develops and Deploys Enterprise Financial Analysis Software

Helaba Invest, a leading German institutional asset manager with about €140 billion under management, needed to replace costly, inflexible third‑party valuation software and meet AIFMD regulatory requirements. Lacking deep experience in traditional programming and enterprise deployment, the team required a scalable platform and targeted training. They turned to MathWorks, using MATLAB along with MATLAB Production Server, MATLAB Compiler SDK, Financial Toolbox, Financial Instruments Toolbox, Parallel Computing Toolbox, and MathWorks Training Services.

MathWorks enabled Helaba Invest to develop and deploy a core library of pricing, risk, and fair‑value models (servicing about 300 portfolios and more than 5,000 derivatives) and to run it on a multicore Linux cluster via MATLAB Production Server with Excel, Java, .NET, and Oracle integrations. With MathWorks tools and onsite training, Helaba Invest accelerated ramp‑up, cut project and support costs by roughly 20%, eliminated reliance on external valuation services, delivered an AIFMD‑compliant solution, and rolled out a scalable, maintainable application used by hundreds of external customers and dozens of internal analysts.
