A MathWorks Case Study
Gulfstream Aerospace worked to improve how its flight deck innovation group models and manages the integrated modular avionics architectures behind its business jets. Previously, internal and external teams relied on XML-based interface control documents and static block diagrams, which were time-consuming to maintain and difficult to use for understanding system interactions. MathWorks’ System Composer was used as the key product in the effort.
Using MathWorks System Composer, Gulfstream created and adopted eSAM, a standardized systems engineering method for building functional, physical, and logical architecture models, integrating systems, and linking architecture models to Simulink software models. The new approach enabled collaborative multirole systems modeling, allowed supplier models to be developed independently before integration, and streamlined architecture analysis and visualization with dynamic model views.
