Goethe University Frankfurt Conducts Awareness Campaign to Encourage Campus-Wide Usage of MATLAB and Simulink

Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany’s third‑largest university, faced fragmented access to MATLAB and Simulink because individual departments managed their own licenses, leaving some students and lecturers without the tools they needed and restricting use to computer labs. To simplify administration and give the campus broad access, the University IT Center acquired a Campus‑Wide License for MATLAB and Simulink from MathWorks.

Working with MathWorks, the university launched a coordinated awareness campaign that combined the new MATLAB portal, digital and print communications, in‑person events, and training sessions led by MathWorks engineers. The MathWorks partnership helped Goethe University hit its adoption goal of 1,000 individual users months ahead of schedule and sustain monthly activations, while professors reported fewer access issues and students gained the freedom to work anywhere; the Campus‑Wide License (MATLAB, Simulink, and 50 toolboxes) also supports campus‑wide online training to boost skills across disciplines.
