Delphi Develops Radar Sensor Alignment Algorithm for Automotive Active Safety System

Delphi faced a four-week deadline to deliver a production automotive radar sensor alignment algorithm that must run more than 40 times per second and compute misalignment angles within 1 millisecond. To accelerate design, verification, and implementation, Delphi used MathWorks' MATLAB and MATLAB Coder to analyze recorded vehicle data, develop the algorithm, and generate production C code.

Using MathWorks' tools, Delphi prototyped a least-squares–based alignment algorithm, verified it with simulations and large datasets, and generated optimized C code with MATLAB Coder—reducing execution on an ARM10 from over 3 ms to under 1 ms. The result: generated C as efficient as handwritten code, development time cut in half, instant verification and code generation for changes, and deployment in production active‑safety systems with no reported defects.
