A MathWorks Case Study
Colegio Sagrado Corazón Jesuitas León, a Jesuit secondary school in León, Spain (about 1,100 students), faced low engagement and the challenge of teaching mixed‑ability 14–15‑year‑old math classes using static textbooks. To modernize instruction and introduce basic programming without the friction of traditional coding environments, teacher Pablo López adopted MathWorks tools—primarily MATLAB live scripts (MATLAB Live Editor), with MATLAB Mobile/Online and Simulink.
Using MathWorks’ MATLAB live scripts, López built interactive notebooks shown on a digital whiteboard and shared via MATLAB folders and MATLAB Mobile; students manipulate parameters, see live graphs, solve exercises in code, and create apps with App Designer or Simulink for hands‑on projects. The MathWorks solution increased student engagement, allowed advanced learners to explore deeper while giving the teacher time to support others, introduced programming early in the curriculum, and resulted in shared multilingual resources on MATLAB File Exchange and plans to expand live‑script use across subjects.
